In the vibrant coastal suburb of South Coogee, a new residential development consisting of two modern units called for a vertical transportation solution that not only elevated convenience but also perfectly complemented the contemporary architectural style. Lift Shop was honoured to provide two bespoke E1 home elevators for this project — a choice driven by the developer’s vision for seamless integration, premium finishes, and reliable performance.

Project Background and Client Requirements

The project involved the construction of two adjacent residential units designed with a focus on clean lines, modern aesthetics, and open-plan living. Given the multi-level layout of each unit, the developer recognised the value a residential lift would add — enhancing accessibility for residents and future-proofing the properties for a range of occupants, from young families to elderly owners.

The client’s primary requirements included a lift solution that could:

• Integrate flawlessly with the building’s contemporary design;
• Offer a spacious and comfortable cabin for ease of use;
• Provide durable, high-end finishes that matched the home’s interiors;
• Ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with Australian standards;
• Be adaptable to the builder-supplied shaft construction.

These needs guided the choice of the E1 lift from Lift Shop’s renowned E Series range, which is celebrated for combining luxury design with robust electric drive technology and quiet operation.

Design and Installation Challenges

Every building project presents its own unique challenges, and this development was no exception. The lift shafts were constructed by the builder, which meant close collaboration was required to ensure the dimensions, alignment, and structural elements met the precise specifications needed for the E1 elevators.

Additionally, achieving a fully integrated look was a priority. The developer requested custom cladding for the landing doors to visually blend the lifts into the contemporary architectural language. This involved sourcing and installing specialised materials that would both enhance the aesthetic appeal and satisfy functional requirements such as fire safety and durability.

Given the travel height of 11,050mm across multiple levels, ensuring smooth and reliable operation was essential. This required precise engineering to calibrate the drive systems, suspension, and control panels to handle frequent use while maintaining whisper-quiet performance.

The Lift Shop Solution: Bespoke E1 Home Elevators

The E1 home elevator was the ideal fit for this project, offering a sophisticated electric lift solution tailored for residential environments. The cabin size of 1200mm wide by 1300mm deep provided generous space for comfortable entry and exit, even when carrying groceries, furniture, or assisting those with mobility challenges.

Each element of the elevator was customised to perfectly align with the client’s design vision:

• Landing Doors: Custom cladding paired with transparent glass inserts created a seamless, elegant appearance that mirrored the building’s sleek exterior. This choice not only enhanced visual continuity but also allowed natural light to permeate landing areas, adding brightness and openness.
• Cabin Walls: Finished in RHS Similinox F12PPS, a premium stainless steel skinplate known for its durability and modern texture, on both the left and right sides. The rear wall featured a full-height mirror, amplifying the sense of space and luxury inside the cabin.
• Profiles and Car Operating Panel (COP): Brushed stainless steel was selected to complement the cabin walls and provide a clean, contemporary look while ensuring robust, easy-to-clean surfaces.
• Flooring: The floor was customised by the client to match the stylish finishes throughout the home, ensuring the lift felt like a natural extension of the living space rather than a standalone feature.
• Cabin Design: Lift Shop’s Classica design was chosen, celebrated for balancing timeless elegance with modern lines, making it a versatile choice for new builds and renovations alike.
• Travel Distance and Configuration: The single lift system travels 11,050mm between levels, providing efficient, smooth vertical movement across the home’s three floors.
• Shaft Construction: Coordinated with the builder, the timber shaft was designed to precise specifications ensuring a perfect fit for the lift system.
