In the leafy Brisbane suburb of Coorparoo, an elegant new development comprises two side‑by‑side homes built with identical layouts and floor plans. While the architecture remained consistent, the designers made a conscious choice to differentiate each property through its colour palette—one clad in chic charcoal greys, the other in crisp whites. A consistent branding across the pair, yet with clear visual identity for each.
From the outset, Lift Shop was engaged to supply and install three‑stop Elfo E1 home elevators in both residences. The brief was simple yet refined: identical functional design, precise lift specification, and tailored finishes that harmonised with each home’s distinct scheme. The result? Two lifts that deliver exactly the same reliability and performance—but visually fit perfectly within their respective interiors.
The Elfo E1 model chosen is compact yet spacious, offering smooth adjacently configured entry from the garage level. Each cabin measures approximately 1100 mm in width by 1400 mm in depth, providing a generous footprint that supports up to four passengers or a load of 300–350 kg. The E1’s drive system offers a comfortable speed of 0.3 m/s with advanced safety features like infrared curtains, mechanical and electrical door interlocks, battery backup, and emergency lowering.
What sets the two installations apart is the finish palette. In the “charcoal” home, the lift cabin walls and landing doors are trimmed in dark powder-coated finishes, complemented by brushed stainless steel profiles. Contrasting wall panels are executed in charcoal-tone skinplate or laminate, creating a dramatic yet refined atmosphere.
By contrast, the “white” home’s lift interiors shine with bright gloss Arpa laminate or high‑gloss skinplate panels in an alabaster white finish. These are softened by stainless steel trims and half-height mirrors to reflect light. Both cabins share bold, clear glass panoramic doors that open into the main living areas.
Each lift was carefully specified to match its home’s broader aesthetic without compromising on performance. The end result is two lifts that look and feel entirely different, yet work in exactly the same way—comfortably, quietly, and reliably.
This project perfectly exemplifies how thoughtful design and customisation can elevate standard residential lifts into tailored architectural features.
