Collaborative Design: Aligning Aesthetics with Functionality

The collaboration between Lift Shop and Mary Durack Interior Design was integral to ensuring that these lifts were not just functional elements but true design features within the duplex. The challenge was to provide vertical transport that would serve multiple floors efficiently while also enhancing the interior spaces with premium finishes and thoughtful details.

From the outset, the design brief focused on creating lifts that would harmonise with the contemporary design language of the duplex. The polished stainless steel finishes chosen for the landing and cabin doors do just that, reflecting natural and artificial light to create a bright, airy feel throughout the common areas. This reflective surface also contributes to a sense of spaciousness, particularly important in multi-level residences where vertical elements can otherwise feel constricting or utilitarian.

Luxurious Cabin Interiors: Material Choices That Make a Difference

Inside the cabin, the use of RHS Arpa 2516 for the wall finishes brings a distinctive warmth and tactile richness that contrasts beautifully with the cool, sleek stainless steel. This material’s deep texture and colour provide a subtle luxury that elevates the passenger experience every time the lift is used. The choice of Arpa 2516 is a testament to the emphasis on using durable, high-quality materials that can withstand frequent use without sacrificing aesthetic appeal.

Adding to the sense of openness and light, the rear wall features a full-height mirror. This clever design element serves multiple purposes: it visually expands the cabin space, enhances ambient light, and introduces a glamorous touch often found in luxury interiors. The choice to finish the profiles, car operating panel (COP), and ceiling in polished stainless steel further underscores the commitment to luxury and durability. The COP itself is ergonomically designed for ease of use, featuring tactile buttons and clear, backlit displays that are accessible to all passengers. Its positioning and style were carefully considered to maintain the cabin’s sleek, uncluttered look without compromising functionality.
