When the owners of this Sydney home began planning their vertical transport solution, they knew a generic option wouldn’t suit their vision. After exploring options firsthand at the Lift Shop Sydney showroom, they were inspired to transform their lift into a bespoke design moment — one that would reflect their home’s architectural integrity while delivering everyday performance and comfort.
The result is a fully customised ElfoLift that seamlessly integrates refined materials, elevated detailing, and practical engineering. A true centrepiece, this lift doesn’t just connect floors — it enhances the overall aesthetic and experience of the home.
The owners of this modern home wanted their residential lift to contribute to the home’s personality rather than disappear into the background. As such, the design brief was focused on premium materials, a bold but elegant finish, and a smooth user experience that matched the rest of the property’s standards. Size, speed, safety, and quiet operation were also key considerations.
As seasoned designers and homeowners, the clients had a clear idea of how they wanted each detail to feel — sophisticated, tailored, and built to last. From the first consultation, Lift Shop worked closely with them to match both form and function, guiding every design decision from cabin walls to car operating panels.
The ElfoLift model selected for this project offered the ideal mix of technical performance and flexible design customisation. With its electric drive system, the ElfoLift provides whisper-quiet operation, precise floor levelling, and the fastest residential lift speed of 0.3 m/s. It was also important that the unit accommodate an oversized capacity — this version supports up to 400kg and is sized at a generous 1200mm x 1200mm with a striking 2100mm ceiling height.
These specs not only provide enhanced comfort and accessibility but also future-proof the home, ensuring long-term functionality for all users, including those with reduced mobility. It’s an essential feature for modern living — and one that’s increasingly valuable in multigenerational homes.
The lift’s cabin is a true expression of the client’s design taste. Two walls are finished in milk glass, offering a softly opaque surface that diffuses light and adds a clean, airy feel. This material reflects natural and ambient lighting beautifully, creating a subtle sense of movement and space within the cabin.
In contrast, the feature wall from Lift Shop’s exclusive Arpa range — in the 9206 VG LUC textured laminate — introduces boldness and tactility. This wall finish adds both depth and drama, making it a standout feature that draws attention without overpowering the interior. It’s this mix of contrast and cohesion that gives the cabin its unique sophistication.
To frame these finishes, the team specified Similinox skinplate profiles, chosen for their low-maintenance brushed metallic finish and resistance to everyday wear. Together, these materials strike the ideal balance between contemporary minimalism and layered elegance.
Every surface in this ElfoLift contributes to a holistic visual experience. The ceiling is finished in Bianco A1 with our DAMA pattern — a lightly textured white surface that enhances brightness and visual height. Polished stainless steel trims and detailing reflect ambient light, helping the space feel open and polished.
A vertical car operating panel (COP) was installed to keep controls intuitive and aligned with modern design expectations. For added safety and convenience, the client also selected Lift Shop’s exclusive flush mount telephone, built discreetly into the panel for emergencies — a sleek detail with peace-of-mind benefits.
On the floor, the cabin is grounded with a premium 677 one-piece stone slab. Its clean lines and weighty visual presence provide both functional durability and aesthetic contrast, echoing stone finishes used throughout the home’s bathrooms and entryways.
The lift is housed in a custom shaft finished to coordinate with the broader home design. For the landing and cabin doors, powder-coated steel in RAL 9003 (Signal White) was chosen to maintain lightness and modernity. Generously sized milk glass panels were inserted into each door, continuing the visual language of the interior and allowing soft light to pass through all floors.
This choice ensured that the lift doesn’t create a dark void in the middle of the home — instead, it contributes to the open, light-filled atmosphere that defines the residence. The final result is an architectural element that looks intentional from every angle.
Beyond aesthetics, this residential lift delivers high performance where it counts. With its electric drive mechanism and state-of-the-art control system, users benefit from ultra-quiet operation, precise landings, and safety features such as full-height light curtains and battery backup for emergency use.
It’s also supported by Lift Shop’s industry-leading 8-year warranty, ensuring peace of mind well into the future. The robust build, premium materials, and long-term serviceability make this ElfoLift a smart investment — not only for convenience but for property value.
Every element of this lift reflects the client’s input and vision, made possible by Lift Shop’s tailored process. Whether you’re designing with glass, stone, stainless steel, or something entirely unique, Lift Shop offers a materials library and design service that gives you full control — and expert support — at every stage.
If you’re comparing what to look for in a home lift, consider the level of personalisation available. Standard models may tick boxes on paper, but few offer the creative flexibility and premium materials like Lift Shop’s ElfoLift and E Series ranges do.
This bespoke lift installation doesn’t just meet functional needs — it elevates the experience of moving through the home. With its layered material palette, subtle lighting, and architectural cohesion, the ElfoLift adds both luxury and livability.
