Future-Ready Flexibility: Extending an E1 Lift from 3 to 4 Levels

In a recent home extension, the original plan was to install a three-level E1 home lift, perfectly aligned with the existing structure. However, mid-project, the homeowners received Council approval to add an entire fourth level. Rather than start over, Lift Shop flexed with the evolving design: existing lift components were partially removed, additional materials ordered, and the system extended to serve all four levels of the residence.

This kind of adaptability is where smart design meets practical installation. Ideally, a lift should be specified for its final configuration at the outset—not just to streamline cost and project management, but to reduce downtime and complexity. Still, as this project demonstrates, life happens. Floor plans change, building approvals evolve, and Lift Shop remains committed to accommodating evolving needs without compromise.

In this extended configuration:

• The cabin and shaft were engineered to maintain consistent speed, safety circuits, and performance across the new fourth level.
• Aesthetic continuity was preserved by matching original finishes—be it polished stainless steel panels, skinplate walls, or door trims—to keep the look seamless.
• The control systems were updated to integrate a four-stop operation, including new landing call stations and emergency safety features.
