Frameless Black Shaft

Future‑Proof Living: Seamless Lift Design in Brisbane’s Bulimba Home

In the leafy riverside suburb of Bulimba, thoughtful architectural planning ensured that this contemporary residence would be both stylish and accessible. With all principal living spaces located on the second level, the owners prioritised ease of movement—which led to the decision to integrate a precision-engineered lift right at the entrance.

From the outset, the design brief called for clean, modern lines that would blend with the home’s sleek aesthetic. The solution came in the form of a centrally located, frameless glass shaft framed by bold black steel columns. The effect is striking—a seamless architectural feature that immediately captures attention upon entry and sets the tone for the rest of the home.

The lift uses an adjacent through‑car configuration, meaning passengers can enter from one side at the garage level and exit from the opposite side at the upper levels. This layout was chosen to optimise flow, accessibility, and architectural coherence across all floors. With every detail considered, the pit floor was professionally tiled to ensure a flawless finish—because in visible installations, every centimetre matters.

Inside the cabin, finishes were carefully selected to enhance both style and comfort. Glass cabin walls allow natural light to permeate the space, while anodised aluminium landing doors complement the lift’s industrial modern aesthetic. Clear glass ensures sight lines remain open and spacious, even within a compact lift footprint.

This installation demonstrates how modern residential lifts—such as those from our C Series or whisper‑quiet E Series—can elevate both function and form. With size-to-suit capabilities, we can customise lift cabins to fit even the most precise architectural voids, allowing high design integration without compromising utility.

Working closely with architects and builders allowed for seamless coordination throughout the build. By involving Lift Shop early, structural considerations—like steel support for the glass shaft and tile finishes at the pit—were incorporated into the construction plan, preserving design intent and avoiding last-minute modifications.
