Located in the vibrant heart of Glebe, this classic three-level terrace home underwent a sophisticated transformation with the addition of a custom ElfoLift 2. The owners, passionate about preserving the character of the property while improving accessibility, worked with Lift Shop to retrofit a lift that would respect the home’s architecture while enhancing everyday comfort.
The perfect solution? A “bones only” shaft configuration — ideal for retrofitting into existing homes where minimising footprint and disruption is essential. Unlike traditional blockwork shafts, this design offers structural efficiency with minimal impact on the home’s original layout and integrity.
The cabin itself measures 1050mm x 1050mm, a compact but practical size for this narrow terrace. Inside, the lift is a study in elegant contrast. The walls are finished in Inox Nero Lucido — Lift Shop’s exclusive high-gloss black stainless steel — a material that exudes modern luxury and complements the home’s updated interiors. Brushed stainless steel profiles soften the shine with a subtle matte contrast, while a full-height mirror on the rear wall creates a sense of expanded space and light.
As a nod to the home’s heritage style, the floor of the cabin was fitted with a custom timber surface — chosen to match the existing floors and joinery throughout the property. The white-framed frosted glass landing doors offer privacy and elegance, blending perfectly with the classic architecture while allowing for light diffusion and design continuity.
With seamless integration, minimal structural disruption, and top-tier finishes, this lift has added long-term value and everyday convenience. The result is a terrace that not only retains its historic charm but now delivers modern ease of living on every level.
