The project

Effortless living across both levels

In this South Perth home the upper floor is as easy to reach as the front door. The stairs are there when you want them, and never when you do not.

The house runs over two levels with four bedrooms and a pool. The lift takes the everyday trips between them, the shopping, the luggage, the laundry, and it takes them without anyone thinking about it. That is what a home lift is actually for.

The landing door is finished in signal white powdercoat with a frosted glass panel, so it sits into the wall colour instead of against it. From the living area the lift is a white door in a white wall. A home like this is easiest to build when the shaft is drawn in early, which is why Lift Shop drawings go to the builder before the slab.

Specified with the builder, not after them

Prestige Homes WA built the house, and the lift was in the drawings from the start. That is the cheapest time to put a lift into a project. The shaft gets built once, to Lift Shop engineering drawings, and the lift drops into a structure that already fits it.

Inside, the cabin is Classica in Similinox with brushed stainless trims and control panel, and a Similinox ceiling to match. One tone through the whole car, which makes a smaller cabin feel larger than its dimensions.

Through the house

A white door in a white wall, and a floor plan that never has to explain itself.

Why it works

Both levels, equally

A 1000 by 1200 millimetre car carries five people, or one person and the week's shopping, between the two floors.

Finished into the wall

Signal white powdercoat with frosted glass means the landing door reads as joinery rather than as a lift.

In the drawings early

The builder had Lift Shop engineering drawings before the shaft went up, so it was built once and built right.

Lift Shop has installed more than 12,000 home lifts across Australia, with a showroom in Belmont for Perth clients and no hidden costs in any quote.
