Modern Vertical Living: 12 Custom E1 Lifts Transform Townhouse Comfort in Cleveland

In a growing Queensland suburb known for its modern architecture and coastal charm, a forward-thinking townhouse development in Cleveland has embraced vertical living in style. Lift Shop was proud to collaborate with renowned builder AMD Constructions and design studio TJV Design to supply and customise 12 residential E1 elevators for this ambitious project.

Designed to enhance liveability, accessibility, and aesthetic appeal, this large-scale installation showcases the power of thoughtful integration when it comes to compact residential lift elevators. The result: a sleek, space-efficient solution that provides seamless access across multiple levels while complementing the development’s contemporary architecture.

Project Overview: Townhouse Living, Elevated

This Cleveland development was designed to meet the lifestyle needs of modern families and professionals looking for luxury living with smart functionality. With multiple townhouses built across two and three levels, it quickly became clear that the inclusion of a residential lift in each unit would be a major value-add—offering both current convenience and future-proof accessibility.

The developers wanted lifts that would feel like a natural part of each home, rather than an afterthought. That meant seamless aesthetics, reliability, and a compact form factor that didn’t eat into usable living space. They also needed a product that would be easy to replicate across 12 separate dwellings—without compromising on finish or experience.

Choosing the Right Solution: The E1 Electric Lift

After reviewing several options, Lift Shop recommended its flagship E1 electric lift—a premium yet compact model designed for Australian homes. Known for its whisper-quiet operation, fast travel speed, and design flexibility, the E1 was the ideal match for this project’s requirements.

With its advanced drive system and minimal pit and headroom requirements, the E1 can be installed quickly and neatly into modern residential builds. For multi-unit developments like this one, it ticks all the boxes: high performance, visual appeal, and outstanding long-term value.

Each of the 12 lifts was customised to the same specification, maintaining design consistency across the development while ensuring each cabin suited its respective space.

Refined Materials and Elegant Finishes

Design played a key role in this project. The E1 model offers extensive options for interior and exterior finishes, allowing the Lift Shop team to work closely with the project designers to create a cohesive, modern look.

  • Landing Doors: Finished with RAL 9010 frames and frosted glass, the doors created a crisp, clean aesthetic that complemented the neutral exterior tones of the development. The frosted glass allowed natural light to filter through while ensuring privacy—perfect for entryways visible from the street or internal communal spaces.
  • Cabin Walls: Internally, the lift walls featured RHS brushed stainless look F41PPS panels. This finish offered durability with a refined visual tone, ideal for high-use residential settings.
  • Rear Wall & Mirror: The rear wall continued the F41PPS finish and included a half-height mirror, which helped visually expand the space while adding a practical touch for residents.
  • Side Wall: The left-hand wall was finished in the same F41PPS material, reinforcing a sense of cohesion and balance.
  • Profiles & COP: The car operating panel and profiles featured a mix of brushed and polished stainless steel, delivering a clean, modern feel with excellent tactile quality.
  • Ceiling: The ceiling was finished with the Labirint style in F41PPS, completing the uniform stainless look for a premium, professional finish.
  • Floor: Each cabin floor was fitted with custom tiles chosen to match the townhouse interiors. This bespoke touch ensured every lift felt like a natural extension of the home it served.

Form Meets Function: Optimised Cabin Size and Performance

Balancing accessibility and space-efficiency, each cabin was designed with dimensions of 820mm x 1120mm—compact enough to fit neatly into a townhouse footprint, but large enough to comfortably accommodate everyday use by individuals, families, and visiting guests.

The travel distance of each lift was set at 6400mm, easily covering two to three storeys depending on the home design. With fast and quiet performance, residents benefit from smooth and efficient travel between levels, whether they’re carrying groceries, assisting older family members, or simply avoiding the stairs.

This smart use of vertical space is part of a growing trend in Australian urban developments, where multi-storey living is increasingly common. And as this project shows, small home lifts for multi-level homes are quickly becoming not just a luxury, but a necessity.

Streamlined Installation and Project Coordination

With 12 individual lift installations happening simultaneously across the site, timing and logistics were crucial. Lift Shop’s project management team worked closely with AMD Constructions to ensure every unit was delivered, installed, and tested on time—without disrupting the broader construction schedule.

Having a centralised team with experience in high-volume projects was critical to the smooth delivery. From shop drawings to final commissioning, every detail was managed efficiently and professionally.

The Results: Elevated Comfort, Increased Value

The inclusion of E1 lifts in each Cleveland townhouse wasn’t just about mobility—it was about lifestyle enhancement and long-term value. Residents benefit from increased convenience, stylish interiors, and the peace of mind that comes from future-proof design. And for developers, the project now appeals to a broader buyer demographic, including families, retirees, and mobility-conscious individuals.

As more buyers prioritise accessibility and intelligent design, properties that offer premium vertical transport are gaining a clear edge in the market.
